Driver Charged With DUI After Hitting 3 People

Suspect Faces a Variety of Felony Charges

 

“PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) – The driver accused of striking three pedestrians on Academy Avenue is now facing felony charges.

 

Ynocecnio Rosario Vargas was arraigned today and charged with several counts including driving a motor vehicle without consent of the owner, driving under the influence (DUI) and driving with a suspended license.

 

He is accused of striking another vehicle and three people who were standing on the sidewalk. . The victims were identified as Harold Cruz, 33, Sherri Rivera, 34, and Rivera’s 11-year-old child. The victims were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

The driver of the second vehicle was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

 

He is due back in court in early January.”
